Vavstuga warping mill

Initially, I got my warping mill to wind longer warps (I can do 33 yds at a time on my Toika). I find that when I now use a warping board and I am moving quickly, I tend to knock my fingers on the pegs, which hurts. That doesn't happen with the warping mill. Some mills are more wobbly than others and you can't spin them so fast.

<3 This is the Cadillac of warping mills. It has 4 metal braces at its base. The nice heavy base is especially important for speed, long warps and heavy production. We generally wind all of our 20–30 m warps on this size mill, but we have even wound some narrow 40 m warps on it as well.

This warping mill can hold a warp of 20-40 yards, depends on warp and yarn thickness.

This is a picture of Jake O. Trujillo finishing up a warp on his warping mill which was kept in the attic of Irvin’s grandmother’s house. This picture was taken in the early 1980’s, but he had built the mill soon after he built his loom in 1927.

At the end of Spring 2016, I attended the Vavstuga Basics course that is taught mainly on Glimakra Standards . Feb 28, 2015 I feel like the sudden appearance of another warping mill and Glimakra standard comes from this retrograde activity.
